Working with Butterfly House we co-created a pilot internship for the Butterfly House youth as part of their Professional skills programme during the school holidays of March 2018. Seven students signed up and we set them up with three local businesses in retail, agri-business and hospitality. The results were better than expected.

Butterfly House, is acommunity resource centre that was built in Fairyland in 2008. Fairyland is a previous informal settlement, 10km outside of Paarl. Butterfly House looks after 300 vulnerable children from the ages of 2-18.

Butterfly House wants to  bridge the gap between education and employment for their students so they do not fall behind and can find work after they finish school.  So LINKUP was a perfect match.

“I thought I wanted to go farming, but after listening to the guest speaker I decided to go to Woolworths because they do things for NGO's and for the community"
